Screen-Type Sand Filter Introduction
The screen-type sand filter is a high-efficiency water purification device designed for advanced water treatment in irrigation, industrial, and municipal systems. Its core features include:
Three-dimensional deep-bed filtration technology, which uses homogeneous quartz sand media to intercept suspended solids, organic matter, algae, and colloidal impurities.
Adjustable filtration accuracy (typically 0.4–1.2mm) based on sand particle size.
Automatic backwashing capability, enabling continuous water supply without interruption.
Durable construction: Corrosion-resistant metal or stainless-steel tanks with pressure resistance up to 1.0MPa, suitable for long-term outdoor use.
Its primary role is to purify water sources with high organic content (e.g., rivers, lakes, recycled water), serving as a pretreatment unit for irrigation systems and industrial water processes. By combining with screen or disc filters, it enhances downstream filtration efficiency, ensuring stable operation of drip/spray irrigation systems. This filter is widely applied in agriculture, industry, and domestic water pretreatment to improve water quality and prevent system clogging.

Screen-Type Sand Filter User Guide & Applications

1. Installation Instructions


  • Base Requirements: Install vertically on a flat surface with ≥1.5m maintenance space.
  • Pipeline Connection:
    • Inlet/outlet diameter ≥ device interface, with manual valves.
    • Separate drain pipe without valves.
    • Parallel configuration requires balancing valves (recommended for flow >50m³/h).
  • Filter Media Loading:
    • Quartz sand particle size 0.4–1.2mm, filling height 500mm.
    • Avoid damaging the internal anti-corrosion coating.

2. Operation Procedure


  • Startup Preparation:
    • Water pressure 0.25–0.4MPa, flow matching device specifications (refer to parameter table).
    • Initial operation requires 2–3 cycles of backwash → forward wash until drainage is clear.
  • Daily Operation:
    • Trigger backwashing after 2–3 days of continuous operation or when pressure difference >0.06MPa.
    • Backwash Steps: Open backwash valve to 1/5 opening → observe full pipe flow → fully open → switch to forward wash after 15–25 minutes → continue until drainage is clear.

3. Maintenance


  • Media Replacement: Replace quartz sand every 3–5 years or when pressure difference >0.15MPa.
  • Freeze Protection: Drain the tank and remove media in winter to prevent freezing.
  • Long-Term Shutdown: Clean and store dry, inspect seals regularly.
